At 12.7 deaths per 100,000, the rate has surpassed its previous 30-year high in 1986 of 12.5 deaths per 100,000. (html)

Suicide Rates in the UK have been relatively stable over the last 20 years, with a slight overall decrease. Rates for men are higher than for women across all age ranges, with a peak in the 40s for both sexes Report

Hanging is the most common method used in the United Kingdom. Firearms are used in only a small fraction of suicides, possibly because only 4% of households have guns.
